Dolores A. Gagliardi - Obituary

D

olores A. Gagliardi, 90, of Annapolis died Wednesday April 2, 2025. She was born on May 4, 1934 in Washington DC to the late Ben and Teresa Segreti. She attended The Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Washington D.C., and in 1952 graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Georgetown where she was President of the Science Club and was an accomplished pianist. At the University of Maryland, Dolores studied foreign languages. She married Joseph A. Gagliardi on January 25, 1958. They moved to Bowie, MD in 1963 to raise their children. They were active parishioners at St. Pius X Catholic Church and School and several civic organizations in the Prince Georges County area. After her husband’s death in 2004, she moved to Annapolis. She was active in many activities and enjoyed travel, playing bunco, bible study, being a foster grandparent at the Phoenix Center in Annapolis, Sons of Italy of Annapolis activities, and being a member of the St. Martin’s Lutheran Church Retiree Choir from 2003-2009. During the COVID epidemic, she became an avid reader. Dolores was a devoted daughter, wife and caregiver, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a spirit of caretaking that was present up to the end of her earthly life; and a true example of commitment, perseverance, faithfulness, love, and compassion (with a side of sassy). Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Gagliardi. She is survived by her children, Diana (Paul) Seen, Stephen (Emily) Gagliardi, Chrissy (Rod) Lash, and Elaina (Will) Kivett, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Dolores’ family is grateful for the loving care she received from the staff of Sunrise at Bay Village. Visitation will be on Tuesday April 8 from 2 to 5pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, April 9 at 10:30 am at Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church, 885 Cox Rd., Huntingtown MD. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd, Clinton MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena MD 21122 (hospicechesapeake.org/giving/ways-to-give/).
