I

t is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Elaine Mahoney, on 3/31/2025, at the age of ninety-one. Born on 10/14/1933 to the late Joseph and Ethel Ludwig, Elaine grew up in a small waterfront community called Harding Park in the Bronx, New York. She met the love of her life, Michael, at a parish dance in the Bronx while they were in their teens. They were married for seventy-one years. Here in Annapolis, Maryland, she pursued a career in real estate, where she was highly successful, winning many awards in her profession. EIaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend of many. Her kindness and love touched everyone who knew her. She had a warm smile and a gentle spirit that radiated love and compassion. Elaine loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook who loved her afternoon tea and enjoyed preparing cookouts for family gatherings. She also loved to dance at special events and get-togethers. Her kindness, compassion, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her son, Michael Mahoney, her grandson Shaun Johnson, and her siblings, Ethel Lazzaro and Joseph Ludwig Elaine is survived by her husband, Michael; her children Janet and son-in-law Ernie Beckner, Kevin Mahoney, Donna Schmitz; her grandchildren Drake, Brent and his spouse Cate Beckner, Christopher and his spouse Shannon Schmitz, Allison and her spouse Patrick Curry, and her great-grandchildren Michael and Elise Beckner, Rowen, Carter, and Elliot Schmitz, and Ethan Curry. Elaine will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Rest in peace, our loving wife and mother. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Elaine's life on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 2pm until 4 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonvillle, MD. Interment will immediately follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Maryland, 502 Washington Ave Suite 300, Towson, MD 21204 or online at ALZ.ORG
