Maria Rosa Walter - Obituary

aria Rosa Walter, 89, a longtime resident of Lothian, died November 18, 2024. Born in Baltimore on August 8, 1935 to the late Anthony and Frances Glorioso, she graduated from Forest Park High School in Baltimore in 1953. She worked for many years as the office manager for Hotel and Restaurant Workers Union, Local #7, retiring in 2000. Maria was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in West River, MD, and her hobbies included knitting, gardening, crossword puzzles, golf and line dancing. In addition to her parents, Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Amos Walter; a son, Ronald Walter; and two grandsons, Jacob and Griffin Walter. Maria is survived by her sons, Stephen and his wife Kaye Phillips of St. Petersburg, FL, Anthony and his wife Wynn Phillips of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Christopher and his wife Varanda Phillips of Anacortes, WA, and Steven and his wife Maria Walter of Lothian; her grandchildren, Chase and Alec Phillips, Taylor Pimental, Nicholas Sieh, and Isabel, Sophie, Holly, Joey and Vincent Walter; seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Relatives and friends are invited to Maria’s life celebration on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 11 AM- 1 PM, with a brief time for sharing remembrances at 12:30 PM, at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family would deeply appreciate donations in Maria’s memory be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231, or the National Kidney Foundation, 1600 Tysons Blvd., McLean, VA 22102.
